VAISAKHI FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT 

Last Sunday, the 15^th April, the club welcomed teams from the Selkent, Bexley, Medway and Gravesend league for it’s first Vaisakhi football festival.
The Under 7’s and Under 8’s played across the four pitches in the morning with the under 9’s and Under 10’s playing in the afternoon.
The games were all non-competitive, but this didn’t stop some lovely football being played and some great fun being had.
We would like to express our thanks to all the clubs that took part and to their coaches, players and spectators who made the day a great success.  

Below are a few comment we have had -  
I thought Guru Nanak were excellent hosts today (the best we’ve had in tournaments across Medway and Bexley areas over last three seasons) and our boys enjoyed a great day of football. I think you will have learnt a great deal regards organising of matches to keep the games flowing, but all the under 10 teams were understanding of the fact it was your first tournament and this really was a minor inconvenience, which the excellent food and drinks more than made up for. The pitch size was perfect as well, nice enough to have a real game. I believe on smaller size pitches it does help having a ‘no goal kick’ rule (i.e keeper can roll or throw only) to prevent long ball tactics. It is nice having a 7 a side tournament as well instead of 5/6 a side where I think the pitches are too small. So that was a good decision….. I wish you every success for future tournaments and sincerely hope you plan another as today was a great success! The only real way to judge is on players reactions and I can tell you that all our boys really had a good day and want to come again Well done all at Guru Nanak

would like to say thank you and congratulations on organizing a successful tournament which was a pleasure to be a part of today. Some of the football on display was amazing and your hospitality was fantastic and the temple and its grounds was stunning. I am already looking forward to next year’s event. I will have a little think about the day and give a few positives and negatives to help objectively to improve for next year thank you again from all involved within Strood united football club a great day.
